You Can't Catch a Frisbee if You Don't Take the Leap
Whatever dream you're chasing, I'm here to help you go for it.
My human is guilty of a lot of things (though I love her anyway): being late with my kibble, ending the walk early because of rain, not going to bed on time no matter how long I sit by her knee and stare at her, etc.
Sometimes, she’s also guilty of dreaming but not doing.
Is that you too, human?
Do you have dreams you never quite seem to have time to work on? Do you want things that deep down, you don’t think you quite deserve? Do you make plans and conduct research, only to lose steam and get distracted before putting those plans into action?
Look, human: you have great work in you. But you have to commit. You have to take that last step and say “I’m doing this.”
You have to take the leap.
Goals are like frisbees thrown by the Big Dog In The Sky: there are a bunch whizzing around the meadow of life! They’re THERE. They’re real. And they are attainable. But you have to work for them. They (usually) don’t land at your feet. You have to go all-out to chase them, and course-correct, and take that leap.
If you don’t catch the frisbee right away, that’s okay! It’ll get thrown again, and again, as many times as you get up and try.
Because that’s the thing, with dreams and with goals and with frisbees: you might not catch it immediately. You might fall and bruise your paw. You might fall into a pond, or get muddy, or misjudge your aim. Maybe you can’t run fast enough, and the frisbee falls to the ground before you can catch it.
Again: that’s okay! No puppy starts out knowing how to catch a frisbee. It takes practice. If you leap, no matter the outcome, you’re getting practice in going after your dream. You’ll meet some cool kindred spirits, you’ll learn a lot about yourself, and you might even have a ton of fun along the way.
Maybe your frisbee will break and need to be thrown away. That’s okay too! There are always more frisbees. And with your next dream, you’ll be able to use all your learnings from before. It’ll be easier to start and make progress. If you keep trying, you’ll eventually catch a frisbee.
Look at it this way:
If you don’t take the leap, your chances of catching your dream are zero.
So make your plans, do your research, and then take that final step. Commit, and go for it. Leap as many times as it takes to catch that frisbee.
What dream are you chasing today, human? If you haven’t taken the leap yet, what’s stopping you?
